February (Spring) – Limited intake, mainly postgraduate programs.
Deadlines:
● Fall Intake: Apply between February – April (EU students) or earlier for
international students (Nov–Mar).
● Spring Intake: Apply between September – November.

Tuition Fees & Living Costs

Public Universities: €900 – €4,000 per year (depending on income & university
policy).
Private Universities: €6,000 – €20,000 per year (Bocconi, LUISS, etc.).
Living Costs: €8,000 – €12,000 per year (cheaper in smaller cities, higher in
Milan/Rome).

Scholarships are widely available through the Italian Government (MAECI), regional
grants, and university-specific schemes.

Language Proficiency Requirements – IELTS / TOEFL

English-Taught Programs: IELTS 6.0 – 6.5 / TOEFL iBT 70–90 / PTE Academic
accepted.
Italian-Taught Programs: B2 level Italian proficiency (CILS, CELI, or PLIDA
certification).
● Many universities accept MOI (Medium of Instruction) for English-taught
programs.

Standardized Tests

Undergraduate: Some programs (Medicine, Architecture, Engineering) require
entrance tests like IMAT (Medicine) or university-specific exams.
Postgraduate: GRE/GMAT may be required for certain Business or Economics
programs.
● Most Arts, Humanities, and Design programs do not require standardized tests.

Application Process & Timeline

1. 12 months before intake: Research universities at Universitaly.it (official portal).
2. Prepare Documents: Passport, academic transcripts, IELTS/TOEFL/MOI, SOP,
LORs, CV, portfolio (for Arts/Design).
3. Submit Pre-Application: Via Italian Embassy/Consulate in your home country (for
visa clearance).
4. Apply to University: Online application through university portals or Universitaly
platform.
5. Receive Admission Letter: Offer issued within 1–3 months.
6. Apply for Visa (Type D Student Visa): After receiving admission confirmation.

Italy Student Visa – Requirements & Documents

Visa Type: National Visa (Type D)
Visa Fee: €50 – €100 (varies by country)
Documents Required:
   ○ Admission letter from university
   ○ Proof of financial means (~€6,000/year minimum)
   ○ Proof of accommodation in Italy
   ○ Valid passport
   ○ Academic documents
   ○ Health insurance coverage (€150 – €200/year for SSN student
     registration)

Visa processing takes 4–8 weeks, depending on consulate workload

Work While Studying & Post-Graduation

During Studies: Students can work up to 20 hours per week (1,040 hours/year).
After Graduation:
   ○ Apply for a job search visa extension (6–12 months).
   ○ Transition to a work permit (permesso di soggiorno lavoro) upon securing
       a job.
